Chicago Police have arrested and charged William Balfour, (estranged brother-in-law of R&B Singer/Actress Jennifer Hudson) for the October slayings of Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, brother Jason Hudson, 29, and nephew, Julian King, 7, authorities said today.
“He was released to Chicago detectives,” Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Monique Bond said.
Balfour, 27, who was married to Hudson’s sister Julia, was a person of interest after the slayings and was detained and questioned by police but not charged. Balfour, who refused to take a lie detector test was also imprisoned for violating his parole on a previous attempted murder conviction, and was scheduled for a hearing this coming Wednesday. According to the Chicago Tribune, the Illinois Prisoner Review Board decided the 27 year-old violated his 1999 attempted murder conviction after his current girlfriend claimed she witnessed him in possession of a gun that was linked to the Hudson murders.
Balfour will be charged for the shooting deaths of Hudson’s mother, brother, and nephew. Four days after the bodies of Jason and Darnell were found in their home, Hudson’s young nephew’s body was found in Jason Hudson’s stolen sport utility vehicle parked on the abandoned on the West Side of the Windy City. A gun reportedly used in the slayings was found close to the stolen SUV. Details on the arrest are still scarce.
