Inspired eyes hold the secrets some may have forgotten
Fallen victim to stereotypes because our conception was misbegotten
Pigeonholed into failure, categorized by measure of melanin
Drowning in desperation, regret and disparagement
Qualities of character overshadowed by ignorance
Restrained from the purpose of our own existences
Our desires are not gluttonous, only to reach our God-given potential
To provide for our families only that which is essential
Now there’s a beacon of light, the tangible validation of hope
Reaching out to grasp outstretched hands on that downward slope
Giving vision to eyes blinded by civilization’s beliefs
Consumed and digested into the belly of the beast
In tow upon our backs are our sons and daughters
Encouraging us to face our fears and tread uncharted waters
With steadfast strength against the cyclic rise and fall of the tide
Using our ancestor’s whispers and bible verses as our guide
A historical victory that shunned negativity and doubt
Cracking open the gates to allow prosperity to flow out
Can this landslide victory reverse the landslide of this economy?
And grant us the simple privileges of security and autonomy?
Only time will tell and remember that patience is a virtue
But do not sit too idle and allow procrastination to hurt you
It is not solely our victory; this is a triumph for millions
Allowing opportunities to all types of American civilians
It’s your choice to pursue your dreams or stand in your own way
There is no gift more valuable than God’s promise of Our Today
